Exfilna 2017 – Portugalete – Metal Bridge – Miniature Sheet
This year Portugalete will host the 55th Philatelic Exhibition, EXFILNA, organized since 1963 by the Spanish Federation of Philatelic Societies (FESOFI), with the sponsorship of the State Postal and Telegraph Society.
For this reason, Correos issues a new stamp dedicated to this important event. The stamp is presented in a folding block sheet with a punch that reproduces the Metallic Bridge of the city, the Vizcaya Bridge. For the first time it is innovated with a stamp that carries a pop up, with augmented reality, that will collect the rise of this seal to the stratosphere.
The central characters that lead this broadcast, represent two different historical moments, to the left a man from the end of the s. XIX, and to the right, a young woman of our time.
Accompanying the stamp two vignettes, which represent the profile of the population of Portugalete in the estuary, on the one hand, the nineteenth-century buildings and other, buildings of more recent decades.
The vignette on the right also includes the logo of the Philatelic Association of Portugalete and the noble shield of the town.
The bottom of the block leaf is of blue color, in allusion to the estuary.
Also appears the logo of this edition, which in addition to collecting the dates of celebration, shows a drawing of the famous tide gauge of Portugalete.
The protagonist of this issue, the bridge of Vizcaya, Bizkaiko Zubia in Euskera, unites the two banks of the estuary of Bilbao, and was inaugurated on July 28, 1893.
The design was the work of Alberto Palacio Elissague and was the first ferry bridge built with metallic structure and links the towns of Portugalete and Getxo and thus facilitate communications between these two cities.
This bridge is a symbol of the Industrial Revolution of the late nineteenth century. The river of Bilbao, in particular, lived during this time an industrial splendor with a great economic explosion.
EXFILNA is celebrated between the days 9 and 15 of October of 2017.
